Frequently Asked Questions

This a selection of our most frequently asked questions. Please click on a tab for the answers. If yout have a question, which is not answered please contact us using the form below.

DOES GRANITE STAIN ?

Generally, granite does not stain. All stone is porous to some extent but granite has very little porosity. A few colours may absorb some moisture with prolonged contact; which may cause the stone to look darker. Usually, no evidence remains once the stone has dried. Our granite products are sealed prior to installation to prevent staining – however, this process does not make the stone impervious to liquid please contact us by email via the link at the bottom of the page for more information.

CAN GRANITE CHIP ?

Granite will not chip with everyday use, however a solid object hitting the edge of a square countertop could chip out a small bit of the granite but all chips can be filled.

CAN GRANITE SCRATCH ?
Granite is one of the hardest stones known to man, it is extremely difficult to scratch but it’s not impossible.
CAN I CUT ON THE GRANITE ?
You can cut on granite, but it will blunt your knives.
CAN GRANITE CRACK ?
Granite does not crack with ordinary use. Granite is most likely to crack during fabrication, granite does not flex like laminate tops. Do not stand on or apply to much pressure around sinks cut-outs or unsupported overhangs as too much weight may cause the stone to crack.
WILL YOU PLUMB INTHE SINK, TAPS, AND HOB ?
Im afraid not, please contact your plumber/electrician.
CAN YOU WORK TO A MEASURMENT ?
Yes we can as long as you are confident with your measurement, but we prefer to work to a template.
WILL I BE ABLE TO SEE THE JOINTS ?
Yes – although we always minimise the amount of joints & we also fill are joints with coloured resins to match your particular granite.
CAN I SEE THE SLAB BEFORE CUTTING ?
Yes of course we can even offer you the grand tour of our workshop.
